A California Summer Celebration from The Nomad Kitchen
There are few things that taste more like summer than a perfectly ripe California strawberry.
Recently, we took a little road trip out to a local strawberry farm where families can spend the day wandering through the fields, filling baskets with sun-ripened berries straight from the vine. There is something wonderfully nostalgic about picking your own fruit. Kids run through the rows with excitement, grandparents share stories, and everyone leaves with stained fingertips and baskets overflowing with sweet California strawberries.
We even filmed a short video during our visit so you can experience a little of the magic for yourself.
🎥 Here's a little video from our trip to the strawberry farm.

If you're looking for a fun family adventure, grab the kids, the grandkids, or a few friends and head out to the fields. Pick your own berries, enjoy the fresh air, and bring home the ingredients for some truly delicious summer recipes.
Of course, those strawberries might find their way into homemade strawberry ice cream, fresh pastries, smoothies, or a bowl of berries and cream. But one of my favorite ways to enjoy them is in this beautiful Napa Valley-inspired salad.
Fresh strawberries, creamy chèvre, peppery greens, fragrant basil, and crunchy candied pistachios come together in a salad that feels elegant enough for a winery lunch and easy enough for a casual picnic.
This salad began with that simple idea.
Sweet Brentwood strawberries meet creamy chèvre, silky ribbons of imported prosciutto, buttery avocado, fresh basil, and candied pistachios. Finished with a honey-lemon champagne vinaigrette, every bite is sweet, salty, creamy, crunchy, and completely irresistible.
It's elegant enough for a winery lunch, easy enough for a summer picnic, and beautiful enough to steal the show at any gathering.

Nomad Kitchen Notes
Use the ripest strawberries you can find. Brentwood strawberries are worth seeking out when they're in season.
Prosciutto adds the perfect savory balance to the sweetness of the berries.
Fresh basil is the secret ingredient that ties everything together.
For a winery-style presentation, serve on a large white platter rather than in a bowl.
Pair with a chilled rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, or sparkling wine.
